A Romantic term that was first used in relation to those Irishmen who fled their native land after the
defeat at the siege of Limerick in 1691.Lead by Patrick Sarsfield these exiles emigrated to continue the
fight in the fields of Europe, where many met their death. Sarsfield himself fell in battle and was
buired in Huy in 1692.The term "The Wild Geese" has since broadened to include all of Ireland'sChildren
who have left her shoresbringing with them her culture, her music and their own love of life.
